Client Stories - Nargis

"My husband has a good job in banking and we had a good life together with our 3 children until about a year ago when things started to change. He started to go out more at weekends and would disappear for the whole weekend, and not answer his phone. I had no idea what was going on until one of our friends told me he had a coke habit. To be honest I didn’t believe it for a while, but I now know it’s true.

When he is around, he’s very anxious all the time, and jumpy. I just can’t rely on him for anything, and he has let the kids down so many times, promising to be somewhere and then not turning up.

To be honest I’m thinking of leaving him but it’s difficult because our families would not agree with it. Coming to the support group has been great as it’s given me a place to talk freely, as my own family just wouldn’t understand. At the group I’ve met people in similar situations and we have a coffee and help each other out."
