Client Stories - Steve
"It’s my twin brother Brendan who’s got the drug problem. We’re 20, I’ve got my own place but he’s still living with my mum and he’s doing my head in. I’m pretty worried about him actually, as he just lazes around the house smoking weed. He hasn’t had a job for 2 years, and is mega paranoid all the time. Also, he’s started selling pot so he can get some free; it’ll be just his luck he’ll get caught and end up going down for it.
Anyway, the family group has been helping me by making me realise that there’s not much I can do to help my brother at the moment. I need to concentrate on myself, as I was spending hours worrying about him, and rowing with him and my mum. I’ve been learning about boundaries and trying to think about other things rather than think about him all the time. I do worry about him, but I can’t help him until he wants help."
